افتراضي AL-QIBLATAIN MOSQUE...The second Qibla in Islam

AL-QIBLATAIN MOSQUE

Allah in Sura Baqara says, "We see the turning of thy face (or
guidance) to the
Heavens; now shall We turn thee to the Qibla that shall please thee. Turn thy face in
the direction of the Sacred Mosque: Wherever ye are, turn your face in that direction."

Yahya ibn Muhammad AI-Akhnas said, "Prophet Muhammad was visiting Um
Bashar in Bani Salamah area when the time of prayer was due. He prayed two
Rakaas (bowing down) when he received the divine orders to change the Qibla from
the direction of the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem to the Kaaba in Makkah. He immediately acquiesced and turned his face towards the direction of Kaaba while he was still praying. This is how the mosque acquired its present name which means the mosque of the two Qiblas.

Location
It was built on a plateau at the home of Bani Salamah to the north-west of Madina. It
is surrounded by gardens with AI-Aqiq valley stretching to its west.

Construction of the mosque

During the time of the Prophet, the mosque was constructed of stone, tree-trunks
and leaves and branches of palm trees.

Shaheen AI-Jamali, in the year 893 H (1491 A.D.) renovated the mosque and
renewed its roof. Ottoman Sultan Sulaiman renovated it in 950H (1546 A.D.).
King Abdul Aziz reconstructed the mosque, expanded its area and added minarets
and concrete staircase to it.
Its length is 9 meters and width and height each 4.5 meters. The southern part of
the mosque has a niche which might be the place where the Prophet was actually
praying when he received the orders to change the Oibla.

of Madina)
