افتراضي AL-Shajarah (tree) Mosque or Al-Miqat Mosque

[ CENTER]
AI-Shajarah (tree) Mosque or Al-Miqat Mosque

The Shajarah or the tree after which this mosque was named was
an acacia tree at Dhul Hulaifa area under which the Prophet had sat.

The mosque is also called Dhul Hulaifa Mosque. Ibn Zabalah said, "Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to sit under this tree when he was going to Makkah for Haj or Umrah."

Abu Hurairah also said, " Prophet Muhammad prayed near the central column of AI-Shajarah Mosque which was built in the place of the tree under which the Prophet
used to sit."

Construction of the Mosque

AI-Matari, one of Madina historians, said the mosque had cloves at its southern section and a minaret in the north-western corner and that it was ruined with the passage of time.

According to AI-Samhoudi, another historian, Zeinuddin AI-Istidar of Egypt renewed it in 861H (1 460 A.D.). It is square-shaped and its total area is 23.4 square meters.

AI-Matari did not rule out the possibility that Prophet Muhammad might himself have prayed at this mosque.

To the south of it is a small mosque known as AI-Maaras Mosque. The AI-Shajarah Mosque was renewed by the Saudi government when the Prophet's Mosque was expanded.

Location

It is at Dhul Hulaifa to the east of the asphalted road leading to Makkah and Jeddah.

A special asphalted sub-street was constructed to lead to the mosque from the main road. It is also to the north-west of AI-Assad's garden and on the brink of the western side of AI-Aqiq valley.

Sheikh Hafez Abu AI-Baqa said pilgrims going to Makkah from Madina for Haj should not go beyond the limits of the mosque to put on their ihrams.[/CENTER]
